What are All On 4 Dental Implants?
All On 4 dental implants are dental technique used to replace all teeth using only four dental implants. The actual dental implant is a tiny titanium fitting which is placed into the jawbone. This provides the base for which the prosthetic replacement teeth can be attached, which can either be a single tooth or a bridge of multiple teeth.
This technique allows us to strategically place as few as 4 dental implants by tilting the back implants at an angel of up to 45 degrees in order to minimize or avoid the need for grafting procedures. The tilted implants are the key to avoiding important anatomical structures such as the maxillary sinuses or inferior dental nerve. Special connectors are used over the implants to adjust their angles and allow some degree of parallelism between all implants that are eventually screwed the denture designed teeth appliance.
When replacing a full set of teeth (full arch rehabilitation) with All On 4 fixed teeth replacement, two implants are used in the front of the arch and two are used in the back. This particular type of dental implant treatment involves immediately attaching the dental prosthesis (replacement teeth) to the titanium fixtures, meaning that you can in many instances walk out of our clinic with a beautiful new smile straight away!
What are the Benefits of All On 4 Dental Implants?
All On 4 dental implants offer improved appearance over previous dental implant techniques, and are intended to function and feel natural like your real teeth. It is a fixed treatment option restoring a full set of teeth over only 4 implants that are splinted all together by a rigid splint on top of which teeth are placed.
Thanks to the 45 degree angle at which the back implants are tilted, there is optimal support for complete rehabilitation. This provides a solution for bone deficiencies frequently occurring in the back of the jaw, preventing the need for difficult and time consuming bone grafting procedures.
Compared to other implant full moth rehabilitation techniques, All On 4 requires less implants and therefore improving the opportunity for an optimal outcome. Less implants also means easier cleaning and maintenance in the long run.
As All On 4 usually offers immediate teeth replacement and therefore a shorter treatment duration, the whole process is much more comfortable and efficient for our patients.
